I'm hearing more and more about how people are expecting World War III.  A recent ABC poll said that 6 in 10 Americans believe WW3 is likely...soon (http://abcnews.go.com/US/wireStory?id=971221&page=1).  Fox News reported on an AP Poll, 60% likely (http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,163469,00.html).

Afganistan and IRaq are only the beginning.  Who's to say Iran, Korea, and perhaps China won't get involved?  Who will Russia back?  Okay so they aren't the super power they once were, they were probably a lot better off as the Soviet Union, but still, who will they side with?  Then what about South America?  Wasn't Chavez the one who basically flipped the bird at Bush when it came to the subject of oil?  Didn't Pat RObertson want him taken out?

Then there's this whole Isreali and Lebanese thing going on.  Is there something in the water?

Apparently there are others who feel like we are already in World War III.  So, a war of this scale, how will it be fought, is this the Nuclear War some of us were toaught to fear in the early 80's?

If you Google "How Likely is World War 3" there's a lot out there.  There are sites full of comments from religious fanatics who believe this is the end of time or the end of the world.  Some of it is rather humorous.  Check it out for yourself.

Some famous politician recently called the current war "WW3".  I think it was a Newt Gingrich... not 100% though.

Maybe this "world war" will be a long drawn out 20-year process as things get set off by other things, like Afghanistan->Iraq (wasn't really 'set off' by afghanistan.. but let's not get into that)->Iran?->Lebanon?->North Korea?->Pakistan(for good measure)?

We could have running bets on which country we'll attack next..

Think it was Einstein who said:
"I dont know how WW3 will be fought, but WW4 will be fought with sticks and stone's"
Well, or something like that, you get the idea.

And I'll vote for N-Korea for next to be bombed invaded crushed liberated country.

An invasion of N.Korea would be very bad as it would draw China into things.

I think its more likely to be Syria next

I don't think it will be North Korea or Iran.  The US will not attack countries that actually have nuclear bombs unless it really really really has to... it only attacks countries it can safely 'suspect' of having WMDs (and know it has none of).  I think we'll invade someone else 'weak' before that point.

The invasion of the Middle East isn't going to start a WW3. WW3 is going to start in Asia.

Right on my island, too, if our government has anything to do with it. It'll end up being China and its allies vs the U.S. and their allies.

There are, of course, many reasons. But this is what's most well-known:
My island (the government) is a democracy, and China hates us for that. If we move to declare independence, China invades..
The U.S. supports our democracy. China (as I said before) doesn't. We're what China "could be." China doesn't like having a tiny island run a better government than them. Especially since the KMT used to be China's government, before they got thrown out by the revolution. The U.S. has said they will come to our aid..

Did I mention the 800+ missles all clustered on China's shore directly across the Formosan straights? We could be blown off the map anytime.
And how about this--I live right next to their #1 target. It's the Taiwan equivalent of the Pentagon.

I'll tell ya when the bombs start droppin'. Grin

Or move to Canada

My best friend lives in Taipei.  I worry about him.  He refuses to move back to the States.  And he's starting a kids show in Tiawan

Xavier's right.. it won't happen until after then.. and the US will take action on someone before then.

I don't know how far the US would go in supporting Taiwan too.  In the current situation, starting a war against China would be crazy.... probably easier to let China have you hehe.
