I can't seem to get ET to run under Vista.  Anyone else tried?  I've got an NVIDIA GeForce 6600 GT.

Oh, and please don't fill this thread with arguments for or against Microsoft/Windows/Linux.  I don't really care for that.  I just want some good advice.  Thanks.

I ran ET on RC2. It worked fine. I was using the 32-bit version of Vista. Webs tried to run ET on the 64-bit version of Vista and it didn't work. IIRC.

I use my desktop shortcut to automatically connect to the server.  It does it's little loading thing, then the whole screen goes black...and that's it.  Usually it goes black for a few seconds and then loads up the "Awaiting connection..." screen.

Any ideas?

Have you tried running ET windowed? I don't think I ever played ET on Vista full screen.  And make sure you have the latest drivers for all your junk. Like for example, Nvidia latest driver release for Vista was 2 days ago. http://www.nvidia.com/object/winvista_x86_100.65.html

Piro, thanks I haven't tried in a few days, so I hadn't seen the new driver updates.  I'll give your suggestions a try.  Currently, I just jump back to my old XP partition.  I might just turn that into an Ubuntu partition or something.  I was just waiting until I felt confident enough with Vista.

Noob, I knew there would be at least one moron that would completely disregard my request.  Looks like your him.

Someone posted on Saturday regarding blue screens and NVIDIA drivers.  I got it working where I could play for a little bit, but I get blue screens consistently after a few minutes.  So enough of that for a while until things get straghtened out with those drivers.
