For Adware/spyware I suggest Lavasoft's Ad-aware (http://www.lavasoftusa.com/products/ad-aware_se_personal.php).  Ad-Aware SE Personal is free.

For Antivirus, I suggest AVG Free (http://free.grisoft.com/doc/avg-anti-virus-free/lng/us/tpl/v5)  AVG Free is... free.  They also have a spyware product but I've never used it.

Of course, you wouldn't need any of these if you ran Linux Tongue

/me picks up the post after being knocked over, and dusts it off

AVG Free is a great free AV program.  I used to use Kaspersky, and that was beginning to borderline Norton for being a resource drain.

I highly recommend AVG since I've never had a virus yet, and it has picked up viruses and quarantined them before they were even complete in random torrents.  Very impressive.

AVG FTW! I had Norton Antivirus, and then switched to AVG, and I so clear differences between those two, except that you got to pay for Norton Smiley

AVG recently updated from 7.something to 7.5 (I think).  The old 7.something isn't "free" anymore.  You need to go downloaded the latest 7.5 version and install that.  It will continue to be freeeeeeeeee.
