The following is a step-by-step guide to create your own custom desktop shortcut that will connect you to Beginner's Park 3. This shortcut will enable you to connect to the BPark3 server using the correct ports to help reduce your ping.

First download the pre-prepared custom link that Zaedyn has provided on the home page of www.bpark3.com. This is done by right-clicking on the appropriate link and choosing "save link as". Save the link to your desktop.

Once you have saved the link to your desktop, you should see an icon on your desktop that looks like this:

Now, you can edit the properties of the shortcut. Right-mouse-click on the icon and select Properties:

You should see the Properties' Shortcut tab as shown below.

The Target tells the computer to start Enemy Territory from the directory in which it was installed.

If you installed Enemy Territory to a location other than the default (C:\Program Files\Wolfenstein - Enemy Territory\), you will need to edit the directory in the Target. Also edit the "Start in:" value (located directly below the Target). For example, I have installed ET at C:\Program Files\Wolfenstein - Enemy Territory\Pinto, so I need to change the directory in the Target, and Start in as shown in the example below:

The Target also tells the computer to set the net port to a certain number (in the example below, we see that the number is 8976).

Finally, the Target tells the computer to connect to the bpark3 server at port 5123. Do not change this part of the Target unless you don't want to connect to bpark3

You need make at least one change to the Target. Change the number after +set net_port to any other number between 1024 and 65000 except 27960 or 4445. Don't use 27960 or 4445 because these ports are filtered by our ISP. Here the number has been changed to 7598. Choose your own number! If everyone has the same net_port number, then everyone will have high ping. (Note: this only applies to off-campus users.)

Finally you can customize the name of your desktop shortcut. Right-mouse-click on the shortcut icon and select rename.

Then, give it whatever name you desire.
